I invite you to explore the captivating depths of Black Marble. Inspired by a visit to a mine near Brussels, where I witnessed the extraction of this exquisite stone, and inspired to begin a conversation to capture its essence.  Each piece in this collection is meticulously crafted from offcuts, remnants left from the smooth perfect cuts that line the walls of the Belgian mine. 

The process of carving these fragments is a delicate dance, as the marble's sedimentary layers pose a challenge, often demanding sudden changes in the intended form. Through grinding and painstaking polishing, I coax out the stone's inherent beauty.
